The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has taken its financial education campaign to the third edition of the Fahari ya Zanzibar Festival, using the event to engage the public on its role in maintaining economic stability and supporting sustainable growth.
The festival, which runs from September 4 to 14 at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Zanzibar’s Urban West Region, has brought together government institutions, businesses and other stakeholders to showcase their activities and interact with the public.
Zanzibar’s Second Vice President, Mr Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, officially opened the festival on September 5 and visited the BoT pavilion, where he was briefed on the bank’s activities.
BoT’s participation is focused on improving public understanding of the central bank’s mandate and providing information on key issues affecting the financial sector.
The bank is using the platform to explain its responsibilities in areas including promoting sustainable economic growth and overseeing the financial system, while also responding to questions from members of the public.
The engagement comes as financial literacy continues to be an important part of efforts to ensure that citizens are better equipped to make informed decisions on financial services and understand developments in the economy.
By taking its activities directly to the public, BoT is seeking to bridge the information gap between financial institutions and consumers, particularly on matters that affect everyday economic decisions.
The Fahari ya Zanzibar Festival provides the central bank with an opportunity to reach a wider audience outside its conventional public education channels and strengthen interaction with citizens on financial and economic matters.
