The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday confirmed ACT-Wazalendo presidential candidate Luhaga Joelson Mpina and his running mate Fatma Abdulhabib Ferej to contest in the October 29, 2025 General Election.

The confirmation was made during a brief handover ceremony in Dar es Salaam where INEC Chairperson, Justice Jacobs Mwambegele of the Court of Appeal, officially issued the nomination forms to the pair.

Mpina, who was accompanied by senior party officials, said the clearance marked an important step for ACT-Wazalendo as it enters the final stretch of preparations for the polls.

Fatma, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, echoed his remarks, stressing that ACT-Wazalendo was ready to offer Tanzanians an alternative leadership agenda.

The clearance by INEC makes the two leaders eligible to vie for the presidency and vice presidency, alongside other candidates from political parties already confirmed.

The General Election will also involve the election of Members of Parliament and councillors across the country.
