ACT Wazalendo vows to protect voters’ choice after court ruling

By The Respondent Reporter

The leadership of ACT Wazalendo has pledged to fight for citizens’ right to choose their preferred presidential candidate following a Dodoma High Court ruling that dismissed their case against the disqualification of Luhaga Mpina by the National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court said it had no authority to overturn INEC’s decision, leaving voters uncertain about whether they will see Mpina’s name on the ballot.

Speaking today, October 16, 2025, at a campaign rally in Kigoma Urban constituency, ACT Wazalendo committee member Zitto Kabwe said the party is committed to ensuring that the people’s voices are respected in the upcoming general election.

“Our focus is on the citizens. Every voter has the right to a real choice, and we will continue campaigning for our candidate, even if he is reinstated just one day before the election,” Zitto said.

The party’s emergency leadership meeting, held last night, emphasized that the appeal is about defending democratic rights, ensuring that every Tanzanian can participate freely and fairly in shaping the country’s leadership.
