The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has announced the results of the 2026 Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE), showing a significant improvement in overall performance, with 99.92 percent of school candidates passing.

NECTA Executive Secretary, Professor Said Ally Mohamed, said a total of 125,056 candidates out of 125,320 who received results have passed in divisions one to four, marking one of the strongest performances in recent years.

He made the announcement on Monday, July 6, 2026, noting that the results reflect continued improvements in the quality of education and student performance across the country.

According to the results, the number of candidates who achieved Division One has increased from 61,020 in 2025 to 67,606 in 2026, reflecting a notable rise in top-performing students nationwide.

This increase, NECTA said, is an indicator of improved teaching and learning outcomes in secondary schools.

Professor Mohamed further stated that more than 99.6 percent of candidates attained Divisions One, Two, and Three combined, showing a strong concentration of high and average performance levels among students who sat for the examination.

The results also indicate that nearly all subjects recorded a pass rate of above 93 percent, demonstrating balanced performance across different academic disciplines.

NECTA emphasized that this consistency reflects improved preparation by both teachers and students ahead of the national examinations.

In a notable development, no school recorded an average Division F this year, a situation NECTA described as a positive signal of overall academic improvement and reduced failure rates across secondary schools in the country.

Education stakeholders have described the results as encouraging, saying they reflect ongoing reforms and investments in the education sector aimed at strengthening teaching capacity, learning environments, and student support systems.

The ACSEE results are widely regarded as a key academic milestone in Tanzania’s education system, determining students’ eligibility for higher education and professional training institutions.

With the 2026 results showing a sharp rise in performance, attention now turns to how universities and colleges will absorb the increasing number of high-achieving students expected to continue with advanced studies.
