Thirty-six suspects among 130 people arrested over allegations of planning and encouraging criminal activities have been taken to court, the Tanzania Police Force has confirmed.
Police Spokesperson DCP David Misime said in a statement issued on Sunday, July 26, 2026, that the suspects are facing allegations linked to incitement, planning acts of violence, destruction of public and private property, attacks on individuals, and attempts to undermine peace and security.
The Police Force said the suspects were arrested during different operations after investigations allegedly established their connection with plans to organize and promote unlawful activities that could threaten public safety and order.
According to the statement, some of the suspects are alleged to have used social media platforms and other communication channels to mobilize illegal gatherings, circulate messages considered inflammatory, and coordinate activities that could disrupt peace.
The authorities said evidence collected during investigations points to alleged involvement in actions including encouraging violence, damaging property, attacking citizens, and interfering with the lawful responsibilities of security organs.
The Police Force has called on citizens to continue working with law enforcement agencies by providing information on activities that may threaten peace and security, while emphasizing that all suspects will have their cases handled through the legal process.
The development comes as authorities continue efforts to safeguard public safety and maintain a peaceful environment for citizens and economic activities across the country.
