Residents of Dodoma and passengers using the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) can now access communication and financial services more easily following the opening of a new Yas service outlet at the railway station.
The new store, launched on March 30, 2026, is expected to simplify everyday transactions, support small businesses and expand access to digital services in Tanzania’s capital.
The outlet was officially inaugurated by Dodoma District Commissioner Jabir Shekimweri, who said the initiative will help strengthen the digital economy and support economic activities in the city.
He noted that the availability of such services in a busy transport hub like the SGR station will benefit residents and travelers by improving connectivity and easing access to important communication and financial services.
The new store offers a range of services, including SIM card registration, mobile financial services through Mixx and the sale of devices such as smartphones. It will also provide digital solutions designed to support businesses and entrepreneurs.
Speaking during the launch event, Yas Tanzania’s Director of Customer Experience and Operations, Mwangaza Matotola, said the company is committed to bringing services closer to customers, especially in areas with high customer traffic such as railway stations.
She said Dodoma is expanding rapidly as the administrative capital of the country, increasing the demand for reliable communication and digital financial services.
Matotola added that the store will also support entrepreneurs by offering business tools such as the Mjasiriamali Box, a solution designed to help small traders manage and grow their businesses.
In addition to expanding its physical presence, the company has also strengthened its digital customer service platforms, including chatbots and social media channels, to make it easier for customers to access support and services.
Representing the Director General of the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), Head of the Public Relations and Communications Unit Fredy Mwanjala said the introduction of Yas services at the station enhances the SGR’s role as a centre for integrated services while improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
With the opening of the new outlet, the number of Yas stores in Dodoma has increased to five, reflecting the company’s strategy to expand digital connectivity and financial services across Tanzania.
