Mixx by Yas has unveiled the Wakala App, a new digital platform designed to transform how mobile money agents manage their businesses while improving service delivery for its more than 22 million customers across Tanzania.
The new application was officially introduced during the Partners Gala held at Mlimani City, an event that brought together the company’s key agents from across the country. The gathering also served as an opportunity to recognize the achievements of agents over the past year and present the company’s strategic direction for the coming period.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Mixx by Yas, Angelica Pesha, commended agents for their dedication and highlighted their importance in expanding access to financial services throughout the country.
She noted that agents remain the backbone of the company’s customer reach, ensuring that digital financial services are accessible even in remote communities.
Pesha explained that the growth of Mixx has been built on transparency, trust, and a strong commitment to customer-centered service delivery.
She added that the platform has also received certification from the GSMA Mobile Money programme, confirming that its systems meet international standards in areas such as security, transparency, and protection of customer data.
According to her, the newly launched Wakala App represents a major step forward in empowering agents to operate more efficiently.
“The Wakala App is a first-in-market solution that allows agents to manage their businesses more effectively, track performance easily and maintain full control of their daily operations,” she said, noting that the innovation aligns with the company’s broader vision of building a scalable and digitally enabled agent ecosystem.
Through the application, agents will be able to monitor transactions, track business performance, and access tools that support better operational management, ultimately improving the quality and speed of services delivered to customers.
Alongside the launch of the new digital platform, Mixx by Yas also introduced Bustisha Wakala, a loan facility designed for super agents.
The initiative aims to provide agents with access to working capital that can help them expand their businesses and strengthen service availability in different parts of the country.
The facility is expected to support agents in managing liquidity challenges while enabling them to increase transaction capacity and meet the growing demand for mobile financial services.
Industry observers say the initiative reflects a broader shift within Tanzania’s digital financial services sector, where companies are increasingly investing in technology and agent empowerment to expand financial inclusion.
By introducing innovative solutions that simplify business management for agents, Mixx by Yas aims to build a stronger and more resilient ecosystem capable of serving millions of customers efficiently.
Pesha said the company’s journey this year will focus on growth, innovation, and shared success with its partners.
“Our journey this year is one of growth, innovation and shared success. We move forward with better tools, greater capacity and a bigger vision for achievement,” she said.
Through continued investment in technology and agent development, the company believes it can further strengthen Tanzania’s digital economy by making financial services more accessible, reliable and inclusive for citizens across the country.
