Ibrahim Class challenges Thailand fight result writes to WBC

Tanzania’s leading super featherweight boxer, Ibrahim Class, has written to the World Boxing Council (WBC) to protest the outcome of his title fight in Thailand after judges declared the bout a draw.

Class faced Thailand’s Kritiphak Duangnut in a 10-round contest on February 28 for the WBC Silver International Title. The match ended in a controversial draw despite the Tanzanian boxer insisting he had clearly won the fight.

Two Thai judges, Pongpan Rattanasutorn and Parin Hantabool, both scored the bout 95–95, leading to the draw decision. However, the third judge, Joseph Gwilt, awarded the fight to Class with a score of 97–93.

Reacting to the decision, Class said he was disappointed with the scoring, claiming the two local judges favoured their compatriot despite his dominant performance in the ring.

“I clearly won all the rounds but the result was declared a draw. We have been advised by the promoter to write a complaint letter to the WBC so they can review the fight and deliver justice,” he said.

Class added that the presence of two local judges who scored the fight even raised concerns about fairness in the bout.

His management has since initiated the process of submitting a formal complaint to the WBC requesting a review of the fight.

Once the complaint is received, the WBC is expected to review the entire contest and determine whether the judges’ decision was justified.

For now, Class and his team say they are waiting for the governing body’s response as they seek what they describe as a fair outcome following the controversial result.
