TFF reopens Sokoine Stadium for Premier League action

By Victoria Godfrey

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has officially reopened Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya for Tanzania Mainland Premier League matches after key upgrades brought the venue up to official standards.

The stadium had been temporarily closed because its facilities did not meet the requirements set out in club licensing regulations.

TFF’s Media and Communications Officer, Clifford Mario Ndimbo, said inspections carried out after the improvements confirmed that the stadium now meets all necessary conditions.

“TFF is satisfied that the renovations comply with club licensing rules and procedures. Sokoine Stadium is now cleared for immediate use,” the statement said.

The federation also urged clubs to work closely with stadium owners to maintain and improve their home grounds.

This ensures league matches are held in safe, high-quality environments that enhance competitiveness and meet league regulations.
