Quarterfinal Volleyball action heats up at UMISETA games in Iringa

Excitement is building in Iringa Region today as the quarterfinal stage of the volleyball competition at the Tanzania Secondary Schools Games (UMISETA) kicks off, with eight boys’ and girls’ teams battling for a spot in the semifinals.

In the boys' category, Mwanza will face off against Dar es Salaam, Pwani will take on Mbeya, Geita will challenge Mara, and Tabora are set to play Kilimanjaro. Each match is expected to be closely contested, with teams eyeing the prestigious path to the finals.

On the girls’ side, Mwanza will go head-to-head with Mtwara, Simiyu will face Ruvuma, Tabora will battle Mbeya, and Arusha will compete against Katavi in another set of highly anticipated encounters.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Mwanza Regional Volleyball Coach Azizi Mabele expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to go all the way.

“Our goal is clear to reach the finals and bring the championship home. The players are in great form, and we’ve prepared thoroughly for this stage,” said Mabele.

He acknowledged the high level of competition, adding that every team has come well-prepared.

“These matches will be tough. Everyone is fighting for a chance to progress. But we believe in our game plan and are ready for the challenge,” he added.

The UMISETA Games, held annually, serve as a key platform for identifying and nurturing young sports talent across the country.

 This year’s event has drawn widespread attention, with strong performances and high energy from student-athletes representing various regions.

As the battle intensifies on the courts in Iringa, fans and sports enthusiasts are in for a thrilling day of youth volleyball action.
