Biteko in Rwanda for Africa nuclear energy summit

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, arrived in Kigali on June 29, 2025, to participate in a high-level continental summit focused on nuclear energy in Africa.

The summit, which runs from June 30 to July 1, brings together key stakeholders in the energy sector from across the continent and beyond. It aims to accelerate the adoption of nuclear technology as part of Africa’s strategy for a modern and sustainable energy future.

Dr Biteko is expected to lead discussions on the theme "Africa’s Energy Future and Political Will," highlighting the continent’s readiness and commitment to diversify its energy mix through modern nuclear solutions.

He is accompanied by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr Cosato Chumi; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba; and the Director General of the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission, Prof. Najat Mohamed.

The summit will explore how African countries can harness nuclear technology for development, energy security, and climate resilience.
