The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports is making arrangements to showcase the NBC Premier League trophy, won by Young Africans SC (Yanga), at this year’s Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba.
Government Chief Spokesperson and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Gerson Msigwa, said the move is meant to allow members of the public to view the trophy and interact with players from Yanga, who were crowned 2025 champions at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on June 25.
Mr Msigwa was speaking on June 29 during a press briefing at the Sabasaba grounds, where the 49th edition of the international trade fair officially kicked off on June 28.
"This is a rare opportunity for football fans and citizens to come and witness the league trophy up close, and meet their heroes," he said.
According to Mr Msigwa, the trophy will be displayed at the Ministry’s pavilion, dubbed Kijiji cha Sanaa (Arts Village), which also features music, cultural showcases and a variety of performances.
“Visitors will enjoy daily live entertainment, including Bongo Flava, Singeli, Hip Hop, Taarab, and traditional dances,” he said. The shows will run from 6 p.m. to midnight, featuring some of the country’s leading artists.
He called on the public to visit the pavilion and take part in the cultural and entertainment experience, saying it reflects Tanzania’s rich heritage and creative talent.
