The world market price of gold has been set at USD4,394 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS374,979.34 per gram, according to the latest indicative prices issued by the Mining Commission on Monday.
The September 21, 2026 indicative prices also put the mineral market price for gold at TZS337,481.41 per gram, while buying centres are required to use an indicative price of TZS329,981.82 per gram.
The figures provide a reference for transactions involving gold produced by miners in Tanzania, with the different prices reflecting stages in the domestic mineral trading chain.
The Mining Commission also released indicative prices for silver, with the world market price set at USD67.04 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS5,721.12 per gram.
The mineral market price for silver was set at TZS5,149.01 per gram, while the buying-centre price stood at TZS5,034.59 per gram.
For copper, the world market price was USD6.62 per pound, translating to TZS38.74 per gram. The mineral market and buying-centre prices were set at TZS34.87 and TZS34.09 per gram, respectively.
The indicative prices are issued by the Mining Commission as a reference for mineral trading and help provide a basis for transactions between miners, mineral traders and buying centres.
Gold remains one of Tanzania's key mineral exports and a major source of foreign exchange, with small-scale and large-scale miners contributing to the country's production.
