A new TZS274 million hotel has opened in Nzega, adding accommodation and conference facilities to the fast-growing commercial town in Tabora Region.
The Nkuba Hotel, also known as Pride of Nzega, was officially opened during the 2026 Uhuru Torch tour, with local leaders saying the investment will improve services for visitors while generating revenue for the council and creating opportunities for residents.
Nzega District Commissioner Naitapwaki Tukai, speaking at the event in the presence of the 2026 Uhuru Torch national leader Wazo Michael Mwang’onda, commended investor Ndongo Mabula for investing in the town.
Ms Tukai said the project was an example of how private-sector investment could support economic growth by creating jobs, increasing productive use of land and expanding services available to residents and visitors.
“This project will improve access to hotel services and provide Nzega with a modern conference facility. Visitors will have a place to stay, while the town council will also benefit through taxes,” she said.
According to a project report read by Edina Eliberatus on behalf of Mr Mabula, construction started on March 1, 2025 and was completed on September 4, 2026.
The hotel has 12 guest rooms and a conference hall, providing accommodation and meeting facilities for visitors, businesses and organisations operating in Nzega.
Mr Mabula thanked the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for what he described as a conducive environment for private investment.
“We thank the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, for creating a favourable environment for investment by the private sector,” he said.
Mr Mwang’onda also congratulated the investor, saying the project had been completed without unnecessary bureaucratic obstacles from local authorities.
He urged government officials to continue supporting investors by removing unnecessary barriers to investment.
“When an investor wants to establish a project, they should not face unnecessary obstacles. Give them priority because President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has consistently stressed the importance of giving the private sector priority,” he said.
The opening of the hotel comes as Nzega continues to expand its commercial infrastructure, with new private investments expected to increase accommodation options, support local businesses and broaden the town’s revenue base.
