GEITA: Workers from TG Goodness Group, a gold mining company based in Nyamitondo, Geita, have used the ongoing National Mining Technology Exhibition to gain knowledge on safer mining practices.
The company’s General Secretary, Mr John Jande Richard, said the workers participated in training organised by the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) as part of the ninth national mining exhibition being held at the Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan grounds in Geita Municipality.
Mr Jande said the training had given the miners practical knowledge on workplace safety, particularly on measures to prevent accidents in mining operations.
“This is our first time participating in the exhibition, and we have benefited from the safety education provided by OSHA,” he said.
He said the company’s workers also benefited from guidance provided by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Relations, Deus Sanga, during the opening of the miners’ training.
“The exhibition is good. Many miners have participated, and we have gained knowledge on safe mining under the theme, ‘Trust your work, protect yourself from accidents,’” Mr Jande said.
The annual exhibition brings together mining stakeholders, including large-scale and small-scale miners, government institutions and technology providers, to showcase technologies and share knowledge aimed at improving the sector.
