The Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has challenged its 60 newly recruited employees to make efficient and timely service to citizens the priority as they begin their public service careers.

The call was made by TARURA Director of Support Services Azimina Mbilinyi at the close of a three-day induction programme for the new employees in Dodoma.

Mbilinyi said the performance of each employee would contribute to TARURA's ability to deliver on its mandate, urging the recruits to uphold integrity, accountability and discipline in carrying out their duties.

“Each of you has an important role to play in achieving TARURA's responsibilities and objectives. Use the knowledge you have gained, observe public service ethics and procedures, and, above all, ensure that citizens receive quality services on time,” she said.

The induction, held at the City Hall in the Government City of Mtumba, brought together engineers, technicians, drivers, records officers, procurement officers, environmental officers and office administrators.

The programme focused on public service laws, regulations and procedures, alongside ethical standards governing the conduct of public employees.

Mbilinyi urged the recruits to apply the knowledge gained in their day-to-day work and follow TARURA's guidelines, stressing that professionalism and adherence to established procedures were essential to effective service delivery.

The training was conducted by experts from the President's Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance and the Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC).

The programme is intended to help the new employees understand their responsibilities and public service obligations as they take up roles supporting TARURA's work on rural and urban roads.

The agency is responsible for managing and maintaining roads under its mandate, making the performance of its technical and support staff important to the quality and reliability of services received by communities.
