The Mining Commission has released indicative prices for gold, silver and copper for August 18, 2026, providing updated reference prices for mineral trading in Tanzania.
According to the Commission, the world market price of gold stood at USD 4,420.80 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 377,535.06 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for gold was set at TZS 339,781.55 per gram, while the buying centre price stood at TZS 332,230.85 per gram.
For silver, the Commission reported a world market price of USD 65.61 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,603.08 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for silver was TZS 5,042.77 per gram, while the buying centre price was TZS 4,930.71 per gram.
Meanwhile, copper was quoted at a world market price of USD 6.74 per pound, translating to TZS 39.47 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for copper was TZS 35.52 per gram, with the buying centre price set at TZS 34.73 per gram.
The Mining Commission publishes indicative mineral prices to provide reference points for mineral transactions and support transparency in the trading of minerals in the country.
The latest figures show that the prices applicable to mineral markets and buying centres remain below the corresponding international market-derived values, reflecting the different pricing levels used along the mineral trading chain.
