Tanzania has stepped up efforts to attract Turkish investment, with the government showcasing opportunities in manufacturing, mining, agriculture and tourism as it seeks to deepen economic ties with one of Turkey’s major business communities.

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) held a Tanzania-Turkey Investment and Business Forum in Istanbul on September 3, 2026, bringing together Tanzanian officials and Turkish investors and business leaders.

The delegation was led by Dr Fred Msebwa, Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office responsible for Investment, who was also the guest of honour at the forum.

The Istanbul meeting was part of an investment promotion mission covering Istanbul and Konya, aimed at exposing Turkish businesses to opportunities available in Tanzania and encouraging them to establish or expand operations in the country.

In Konya, a major industrial centre in Turkey, the Tanzanian delegation engaged with key private-sector and investment institutions, including the Konya Chamber of Commerce, the Konya Industrial Zone Authority, the Konya Exporters’ Association (KONIB) and the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK).

The delegation also visited industrial facilities as part of efforts to gain insight into Turkey’s manufacturing sector while exploring areas where Turkish businesses could partner with Tanzanian firms.

TISEZA said the mission is particularly targeting investment in manufacturing, including pharmaceuticals, textiles and agro-processing, as well as mining, agriculture and tourism.

The push comes as Tanzania seeks to attract more investment into productive sectors, particularly industries capable of adding value to locally available raw materials, creating jobs and expanding exports.

At the Istanbul forum, the Tanzanian delegation assured Turkish investors that the government is ready to work with them in establishing and expanding businesses in the country.

The delegation highlighted Tanzania’s willingness to facilitate investors and support the establishment of projects in priority sectors.

The engagements are expected to create new links between Turkish businesses and Tanzanian investment opportunities while strengthening trade and investment relations between the two countries.

For Tanzania, the outreach is part of broader efforts to position the country as a competitive investment destination and leverage its strategic location, natural resources and growing market to attract international capital.
