Tanzania’s national football team, Taifa Stars, will enter camp tomorrow as preparations intensify for two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar, as well as an international friendly against Ghana.
The team will begin training tomorrow evening at Gymkhana Grounds in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information and Communications Officer Clifford Mario Ndimbo said yesterday.
Taifa Stars will face Guinea-Bissau on September 25 at 4pm at New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar in their opening AFCON 2027 qualifying match.
The team will then travel to Casablanca, Morocco, on September 26 for their second qualifier against Madagascar, scheduled for September 29.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, September 18, about the national teams' schedule, Mr Ndimbo said the federation had also planned special activities to give supporters and the media greater access to the team during the preparations.
A Media Open Day will be held on September 21, giving journalists an opportunity to interview players and members of the technical bench. TFF said the exact time would be announced later.
For supporters, a separate Fans Open Day is scheduled for September 23 at Gymkhana Grounds.
Mr Ndimbo said fans would be allowed to watch part of the team's training session and interact with players and members of the technical bench through photographs and selfies.
“This year there will be something new—the Fans Open Day at Gymkhana Grounds, where supporters will have an opportunity to watch the training, take photographs and selfies with the players and technical bench,” he said.
After the Madagascar match, Taifa Stars will remain in Casablanca for an international friendly against Ghana on October 4.
The three matches will provide the national team with a demanding period of competition as it begins its campaign to qualify for the 2027 AFCON finals while also using the Ghana fixture to prepare for future international assignments.
