Singida Black Stars (Singida BS) are refusing to rest on their impressive first-leg advantage, insisting they are hungry for another victory when they host Al Ghazala in the CAF Confederation Cup return leg on September 13.
Singida BS produced one of the competition’s most emphatic results in the opening leg, hammering Al Ghazala 7-1 to put themselves firmly in control of the tie.
The return fixture will be played at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam, where Singida BS will be looking to finish the job and secure their place in the next round.
Singida BS spokesperson Hussein Massanza said the convincing away victory had given the team a major boost but stressed that the players remained focused on the task ahead.
Mr Massanza said the result had also enabled the club to make its mark in the continental competition, praising the players for their determination and commitment throughout the match.
“We thank God for enabling us to achieve this. We started away from home, and now we are coming home to Chamazi. Let them prepare,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to Singida BS supporters and other stakeholders across Tanzania for their backing, saying their encouragement had played an important role in motivating the team.
However, Mr Massanza cautioned against complacency despite the seven-goal haul, saying the team would use the remaining time to prepare thoroughly for the return encounter.
“We are preparing for the return leg, which will give us a clear picture of who advances to the next stage of the competition,” he said.
With a six-goal cushion from the first leg, Singida BS enter the return fixture in a commanding position, but the club says its focus remains on delivering another strong performance in front of its home supporters.
