More than four in every 10 candidates who sat the latest professional procurement and supplies examinations will have to repeat subjects, according to results released by the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
The board said 275 candidates, equivalent to 52.1 percent of the 528 who sat the second session of the 2026 Intermediate Examinations, passed, while 232 candidates (43.9 percent) were required to repeat subjects.
A further 21 candidates, representing 4.1 percent, failed and will have to restart their studies at the respective level, the board's Executive Director, Godfred Mbanyi, said yesterday.
The results were for examinations conducted between August 30 and September 4, 2026.
The figures also show that 39 candidates who had registered for the examinations did not sit for them.
According to Mr Mbanyi, 567 candidates had registered for the examinations, but only 528 eventually sat for them, with the 39 absentees attributed to various reasons, including emergencies.
The results have prompted the board to provide another opportunity for candidates with referral status and those given a final chance to complete their examinations.
“PSPTB has given candidates with referral status an opportunity to sit for examinations in the November 2026 session, while some candidates who were given a last chance are required to use this opportunity to sit for the examinations,” Mr Mbanyi said.
The November examinations will be held from November 9 to 13, with registration having opened on September 8 and scheduled to close on October 24.
The board's move gives candidates who did not clear their subjects another opportunity to progress with their professional qualifications without waiting for a longer examination cycle.
Mr Mbanyi also urged candidates who have qualified for Professional Diploma, Graduate Professional and Certified Procurement and Supplies Professional (CPSP) qualifications to complete the required procedures to obtain their certificates.
He called on lecturers and trainers at procurement and supplies training institutions to strengthen preparations for candidates.
“We urge lecturers and trainers from procurement and supplies training institutions to prepare candidates adequately so that they can perform well in the examinations,” he said.
The results come at a time when professional competence in procurement and supplies management remains important for institutions that handle purchasing, contracts and management of public resources.
For candidates who have been given referral or final opportunities, the November sitting will therefore be important in determining whether they can complete their outstanding requirements and move forward with their professional qualifications.
Candidates intending to sit for the November examinations have until October 24 to complete registration.
