Senior female conservation officers from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) are in Indonesia attending a five-day international meeting that brings together women senior police and security officials from around the world.
The officers, led by Senior Assistant Commissioner for Human Resources and Administration Salma Chisonga, are expected to share Tanzania’s experience in security, conservation, tourism and community development.
The meeting provides a platform for women working in security agencies and institutions responsible for protecting national resources to discuss opportunities and challenges facing women in the sector.
The NCAA delegation is also expected to highlight the role of women in protecting natural resources while supporting tourism and improving the livelihoods of communities living around protected areas.
The gathering brings together senior women officials from different countries to exchange experiences, strengthen professional networks and discuss ways of increasing women’s participation in security and resource protection.
The participation of the Tanzanian delegation comes as conservation authorities continue to emphasise the importance of combining protection of natural resources with tourism development and community engagement.
