The Foundation for Disabilities Hope (FDH) has commended the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) for promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in service delivery and social and economic activities.
Speaking to journalists, FDH Executive Director Maiko Salali said the organisation was recognising public and private institutions that have contributed to creating opportunities for people with disabilities.
He said PSPTB had demonstrated its commitment to inclusion by creating a more accessible environment for people with disabilities, including opportunities to participate in procurement, supply and other service delivery activities.
“We are using this opportunity to sincerely commend the PSPTB Board for its significant contribution towards empowering people with disabilities and ensuring their inclusion in service delivery,” Mr Salali said.
He said disability inclusion was essential to building a society where people have equal opportunities to access services, participate in economic activities and benefit from disability-friendly infrastructure.
Mr Salali also commended PSPTB leadership, under Executive Director CPSP Godfred Mbanyi, for considering the needs of people with disabilities in carrying out the board’s responsibilities.
He urged other public and private institutions, including regulatory boards, to adopt similar measures to ensure that people with disabilities are not excluded from social and economic opportunities.
“Such inclusion is essential in building an equitable society that provides everyone with opportunities to participate in social and economic activities without discrimination,” he said.
Mr Salali also commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan's administration for efforts to promote the participation of people with disabilities and other groups in government programmes.
He called on public institutions to translate the government’s commitment to inclusion into practical measures that improve access to services and opportunities for people with disabilities.
FDH further urged institutions across the country to establish friendly and inclusive environments to ensure that people with disabilities can participate fully in social and economic activities.
