The Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team has expressed satisfaction with the state of stadium infrastructure in Arusha as Tanzania steps up preparations to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The CAF delegation conducted an inspection of key football facilities in the city on Thursday, September 3, 2026, assessing their readiness to support the continental tournament.
The inspection covered Arusha Stadium, where the delegation assessed security systems, spectator areas, commercial facilities and other infrastructure considered critical to the smooth hosting of AFCON matches.
The team also inspected training venues at Mgambo, Engutoto and Magereza, as well as first-aid facilities and hospitals expected to provide medical services during the tournament.
The exercise was conducted in collaboration with Tanzania’s AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee as part of CAF’s wider assessment of infrastructure and services in the three East African host countries.
The inspection comes as Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda intensify preparations for the tournament, with CAF evaluating facilities against the standards required to host one of Africa’s biggest sporting events.
For Tanzania, Arusha is expected to play an important role in the tournament, making the condition of its stadiums, training grounds, accommodation and supporting services central to the country’s preparations.
CAF’s assessment is also expected to guide further improvements where necessary before the tournament kicks off in 2027.
Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda were selected as co-hosts of AFCON 2027, marking the first time the continental tournament will be jointly hosted by three East African countries.
A formal statement from CAF or Tanzania’s AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee confirming its satisfaction with the facilities would further strengthen the assessment of Arusha’s readiness.
