Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (ACB), in collaboration with its strategic partner National Bank of Malawi (NBM), participated in the Tanzania–Malawi Investment Forum held from 7th to 9th September 2026 at the TANTRADE grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The Forum brought together Government officials, investors, business leaders, financial institutions and other stakeholders from Tanzania and Malawi to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation.

ACB’s participation reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting businesses with appropriate financial solutions that facilitate trade, investment and cross-border growth.

Speaking during the Forum, ACB’s Acting Managing Director, M/s Wezi Mwazani, said the Bank was pleased to participate in a platform that brings together Government, businesses and the financial sector to unlock investment opportunities and create meaningful commercial partnerships.

ACB’s participation was strengthened by its strategic partnership with National Bank of Malawi, a key investor in Akiba Commercial Bank.

The partnership demonstrates the potential of cross-border investment and financial-sector collaboration in strengthening economic ties between Tanzania and Malawi. Through this partnership, ACB and NBM see opportunities to facilitate trade, investment and financial flows between the two markets.

“We connect businesses to opportunities. We facilitate trade and payments, provide financing and foreign exchange solutions, and support businesses as they enter new markets and expand,” said M/s Mwazani.

The Forum’s objectives align closely with ACB’s strategic focus on supporting businesses, particularly Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), which are important drivers of economic growth, employment and innovation.

ACB remains committed to providing solutions that enable businesses to trade, invest, grow and expand, including working capital, trade finance, investment finance, payment solutions and foreign exchange services.

ACB Acting Managing Director, M/s Wezi Mwazani, was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of Akiba commercial Bank  support as a key sponsor of the event.

The Acting Managing Director noted that the success of the Forum would ultimately depend on turning discussions and connections into tangible business opportunities.

“The true value of a forum such as this is realised when a conversation becomes a partnership, when a partnership becomes an investment, and when that investment creates jobs and contributes to economic growth.”

She added that Tanzania and Malawi have significant potential to deepen their economic relationship by leveraging their respective strengths and strengthening private-sector connections.

ACB’s participation in the Tanzania–Malawi Investment Forum reflects the Bank’s commitment to “Bridging Markets, Growing Together” by connecting businesses and investors to financial solutions, markets and strategic partnerships.

The Bank looks forward to building on the relationships established during the Forum and continuing to work with NBM, Government institutions, businesses and other stakeholders to unlock opportunities for increased trade, investment and sustainable economic growth between Tanzania and Malawi.
