NMB uses Nanenane to equip farmers with financial skills and business knowledge

By Our Correspondent, Dodoma

NMB Bank has used the Nanenane 2026 agricultural exhibitions as a platform to provide farmers, entrepreneurs and young people with financial knowledge and business skills aimed at improving productivity and strengthening livelihoods.

Unlike previous exhibitions that mainly focused on showcasing agricultural products and technologies, NMB’s participation has placed emphasis on empowering visitors with practical information on financial management, entrepreneurship and access to banking solutions that can help them grow their economic activities.

At the Youth Pavilion at the DK John Mwakangale grounds in Dodoma, young beneficiaries of the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) programme received training on transforming ideas into viable businesses, managing finances and using financial services to expand ventures in agriculture, livestock and fisheries.

NMB Head of Agriculture for Large Customers, Christopher Mwalungenge, said young people should view agriculture as a business sector with significant opportunities for income generation, employment creation and long-term growth.

He encouraged the youth to embrace innovation, proper planning and financial discipline as key factors in building successful agricultural enterprises.

“Participants need to understand that agriculture is a business with opportunities across the value chain. With the right skills, financing and commitment, young people can create sustainable enterprises,” he said.

The bank also provided education to farmers’ groups, livestock keepers and entrepreneurs who visited its exhibition areas, with discussions focusing on financial services, agricultural loans, insurance and other solutions aimed at improving business performance.

The initiative comes at a time when Tanzania continues to promote commercial agriculture, youth participation and private sector involvement in strengthening the country’s productive sectors.

Through its Nanenane engagement, NMB is seeking to bridge the gap between financial services and economic opportunities by ensuring farmers and entrepreneurs have access to knowledge and tools needed to expand their businesses.

The bank’s participation highlights the growing importance of financial literacy in enabling citizens to make informed investment decisions and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
