Newly sworn-in Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi has pledged to serve the nation with integrity, patriotism and diligence, promising not to disappoint President Samia Suluhu Hassan or Tanzanians.
Mr Ndejembi made the commitment on Saturday, August 29, 2026, when he addressed residents of Chamwino Constituency shortly after taking the oath of office.
He thanked President Samia for appointing him as her principal assistant, saying he would faithfully support her in implementing the government’s development agenda and serving Tanzanians.
“I will not let you down, and I will not let Mama down,” Mr Ndejembi told hundreds of residents who gathered outside the Chamwino State House to welcome him after the swearing-in ceremony.
He said his new responsibilities would be guided by integrity, hard work, obedience and patriotism, with the interests of the nation taking priority.
Mr Ndejembi also pledged to continue championing the interests of young people and to work diligently to ensure Tanzania makes further progress in various areas of development.
“I will continue to represent our young people well and work hard to ensure Tanzania moves forward,” he said.
The Vice President assured residents that he would execute his new duties with dedication and accountability while supporting the President in accelerating national development.
His return to Chamwino carried particular significance, as the constituency was previously represented by Mr Ndejembi before his appointment as Vice President.
The reception marked his first public address to residents of the constituency following his elevation to the country’s second-highest office.
