Heading: TZLPGA pushes Cooking Gas (LPG) industry training and policy

Dar es Salaam — The Tanzania LPG Association (TZLPGA) has said it is working to strengthen collaboration among industry players, improve workforce skills and support policy reforms aimed at expanding the country’s cooking gas sector.

Speaking during the seminar held with journalists and film artists in dar es salaam said one of TLA’s primary responsibilities is to bring together member companies to discuss issues affecting the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry and develop common positions on matters of policy and regulation.

TZLPGA said the association serves as a unified voice for the sector when engaging with government institutions and other stakeholders on laws, regulations and policies that affect the LPG business.

"If there are regulatory issues affecting the sector, we discuss them collectively and engage the relevant authorities with one voice rather than as individual companies," an association representative said.

The association noted that beyond regulatory engagement, it also works with a range of stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving the industry and supporting its long-term growth.

Training and skills development were highlighted as another major area of focus. According to the association, the LPG industry requires a skilled workforce capable of handling gas storage, transportation, filling operations and distribution safely and efficiently.

TZLPGA regularly organises capacity-building programmes for employees of member companies to ensure they meet industry standards and safety requirements.

The association also collaborates with local and international experts to provide specialised technical training where necessary, helping workers keep pace with evolving technologies and best practices in the gas industry.

In addition, TZLPGA works closely with regulators and government institutions responsible for overseeing the energy sector, safety standards and consumer protection.

Industry stakeholders say expanding technical skills, improving safety standards and maintaining constructive engagement with regulators will be critical as Tanzania continues to promote cleaner cooking energy and increase the use of LPG across the country.

The government has identified clean cooking energy as a national priority, with LPG expected to play an important role in reducing dependence on firewood and charcoal while improving public health and environmental protection.
