Tanzania and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a renewed focus on trade, investment, economic development and diplomatic engagement.
The commitment emerged during talks between the British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Ms Marianne Young, and the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms Ellen Maduhu, in Dar es Salaam on July 30.
The meeting was the first between the two officials since Ms Maduhu assumed her new role, providing an opportunity to review existing areas of cooperation and explore new avenues for partnership.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the discussions centred on advancing the long-standing relationship between Tanzania and the UK while identifying opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining close engagement in trade, investment, social development and diplomatic affairs, noting that stronger cooperation could help unlock economic opportunities and support development objectives in both countries.
They also underscored the need to build on existing partnerships and promote initiatives that can deliver tangible benefits to citizens, businesses and institutions in Tanzania and the United Kingdom.
Tanzania and the UK have maintained close ties across a range of sectors, including education, health, governance, trade and investment.
The latest talks signal a shared intention to further deepen the relationship amid evolving economic and development priorities.
