The Mining Commission has released new indicative mineral prices for August 21, 2026, with gold, silver and copper prices providing a reference point for traders, miners and buyers across Tanzania.
According to the latest figures released by the Commission, the international market price of gold stands at USD 4,548.60 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 388,615.85 per gram.
The Commission has placed the mineral market price for gold at TZS 349,754.27 per gram, while the buying centre price stands at TZS 341,981.95 per gram.
The figures are significant for small-scale miners and mineral traders, as indicative prices provide a benchmark for transactions at authorised buying centres and help promote transparency in the mineral trade.
For silver, the international market price is listed at USD 68.94 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,889.98 per gram.
The mineral market price for silver has been set at TZS 5,300.98 per gram, while the buying centre price is TZS 5,183.19 per gram.
Meanwhile, copper is quoted at USD 6.48 per pound on the international market. The corresponding indicative figure published by the Commission is TZS 37.97 per gram, with the mineral market price at TZS 34.17 per gram and the buying centre price at TZS 33.41 per gram.
The latest prices come as Tanzania continues to strengthen regulation of the mining sector, including efforts to improve transparency in mineral trading and ensure that miners receive fair value for their production.
The Mining Commission regularly publishes indicative prices for selected minerals to guide market participants and support orderly trading through authorised channels.
The latest figures are dated August 21, 2026, and may change in line with movements in international commodity markets and other factors affecting mineral prices.
