The government has stepped up preparations to ensure the successful hosting of the Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting (GSM) and the Infra for Africa Forum, scheduled for August 5 and 6, 2026 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.

Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary and Commissioner for External Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Rished Bade, said preparations were progressing well as the government works to deliver a successful international gathering that will bring together key players in Africa’s infrastructure development sector.

Mr Bade made the remarks during a meeting with the organising committee tasked with overseeing preparations for the event.

The meeting focused on assessing progress made so far and ensuring that all remaining activities are completed on schedule.

The meeting was also attended by the Acting Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ms Rose Kitandula, who co-chaired the session.

During the meeting, committee members presented updates on technical preparations, coordination of participants and other arrangements aimed at ensuring Tanzania successfully hosts the high-level forum.

The officials expressed satisfaction with the progress made and emphasised the need to complete pending tasks on time to guarantee smooth execution of the event and maximise benefits for the country.

The forum is expected to attract more than 1,200 participants, including government leaders, Africa50 shareholders, representatives from financial institutions, international investors and private sector stakeholders from Africa and beyond.

The meeting will provide a platform for discussions on infrastructure development opportunities across Africa, while also giving Tanzania an opportunity to showcase investment prospects, tourism attractions and strategic projects aimed at attracting domestic and foreign capital.

Hosting the event is expected to strengthen Tanzania’s position as a regional hub for trade and investment in East Africa, while encouraging greater private sector participation in implementing the Fourth National Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP IV) and achieving the objectives of the National Development Vision 2050.

Africa50 is an investment platform focused on financing infrastructure projects across Africa, with the aim of accelerating economic growth and supporting sustainable development on the continent.
