TANESCO drivers have been urged to maintain professionalism, protect company vehicles and uphold road safety as the utility strengthens efforts to deliver faster and more reliable services to customers across the country.
The call was made by TANESCO Risk Control Manager Patrick Mbosa during the opening of the 2026 Annual General Meeting of TANESCO Drivers held in Iringa Region on July 21, 2026.
Mr Mbosa said drivers are a critical link in ensuring that technical teams reach customers on time, particularly when responding to electricity faults and other service-related challenges.
He said TANESCO has invested in expanding its transport capacity by acquiring 982 vehicles, including trucks, light vehicles, three-wheelers and motorcycles, to improve operational efficiency in both urban and remote areas.
“TANESCO has invested in 982 vehicles to support service delivery to citizens. Drivers have a responsibility to ensure these vehicles are properly maintained, comply with traffic regulations and are used safely so they can continue supporting the company’s operations effectively,” Mr Mbosa said.
He said proper management of the fleet would help reduce unnecessary costs, improve response time and ensure electricity services reach more customers regardless of geographical challenges.
The investment in transport infrastructure comes as TANESCO continues implementing measures aimed at improving reliability and efficiency in electricity distribution, including strengthening field operations through better mobility.
Some drivers attending the meeting, including Gillian Ngowi and Joseph Mwanjalila, commended TANESCO for improving working conditions and employee welfare, saying the initiatives had boosted their commitment to delivering better services.
The four-day meeting, which started on July 20 and ends on July 24, 2026, is being held under the theme: “Drivers with Integrity, Development for Our Company.”
Participants are expected to discuss road safety, professional conduct, vehicle management and the role of drivers in supporting TANESCO’s mission of providing reliable electricity services to Tanzanians.
