Gold and silver prices in Tanzania remained strong on July 21, 2026, despite a slight discount from international benchmark prices, according to the latest mineral indicative prices released by the Mining Commission.
The commission reported that the global gold price stood at $4,062.10 per troy ounce, translating to TZS 346,055.89 per gram in the local market.
The indicative mineral market price for gold was set at TZS 311,450.30 per gram, while the indicative buying centre price was TZS 304,529.19 per gram.
The difference between the international benchmark and local buying prices reflects adjustments for refining, transportation, taxes and other trading costs within the mineral value chain.
Meanwhile, silver prices also remained firm. The world market price was $57.80 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 4,924.06 per gram.
The Mining Commission set the indicative mineral market price for silver at TZS 4,431.66 per gram, while the buying centre price was TZS 4,333.17 per gram.
The commission publishes indicative mineral prices regularly to promote transparency in mineral trading and provide guidance to miners, traders and buying centres across the country.
The benchmark prices help stakeholders make informed business decisions while supporting fair trade in Tanzania's mining sector.
