Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, July 18, for a one-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Tanzania and Egypt across strategic sectors.
The visit follows an invitation from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and is expected to culminate in high-level bilateral talks between the two leaders.
President El-Sisi was received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
According to the programme, Presidents Samia and El-Sisi will discuss ways to deepen diplomatic and economic ties, with a focus on increasing collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, energy, water resources, healthcare, education and infrastructure development.
The leaders are also expected to explore new avenues for cooperation that support economic growth, technology transfer and sustainable development, reflecting the shared interests of the two countries.
Egypt and Tanzania have maintained cordial diplomatic relations for decades, with cooperation spanning water resource management, education, agriculture and trade.
The latest visit is expected to reinforce those ties while opening opportunities for greater public and private sector collaboration.
President El-Sisi's visit comes as African countries continue to strengthen intra-continental partnerships under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and other regional integration initiatives, with Tanzania and Egypt seeking to leverage their strategic positions in East and North Africa to boost investment and economic cooperation.
