Tanzania swimmer Collins Saliboko has produced a strong performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, setting a new season-best time in the men’s 100-metre freestyle event.
Saliboko touched the wall in 53.10 seconds, marking his best performance of the season and underlining his steady progress as he competes against some of the leading swimmers from across the Commonwealth.
The achievement represents another step forward for the Tanzanian swimmer, who continues to gain international exposure and valuable competitive experience at one of the world’s major multi-sport events.
Despite completing the 100m freestyle race, Saliboko’s Commonwealth Games campaign is not over. He will return to action on July 28 in the men’s 50-metre butterfly heats, before competing in the men’s 200-metre freestyle on July 29.
The Tanzania delegation has expressed confidence in Saliboko’s continued improvement, with the swimmer expected to use his remaining races to further sharpen his performance and proudly represent the nation on the global stage.
Saliboko’s progress adds to Tanzania’s efforts to build a stronger presence in swimming and other sporting disciplines at international competitions.
