Dar eas Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert John Chalamila, has urged members of the public to visit the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, describing it as an important platform for learning, accessing services and creating business and investment opportunities.
Chalamila made the remarks on July 7, 2026, during a tour of the trade fair being held at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Temeke District, Dar es Salaam.
During the visit, he toured various exhibition booths run by government institutions, private-sector companies and participants from within and outside Tanzania, where he inspected products, services and innovations on display.
He said this year’s exhibition has attracted participants from more than 25 countries, providing Tanzanians with an opportunity to learn about new technologies, identify markets and purchase products at discounted prices.
“Today we are at the Sabasaba Trade Fair, and this visit is part of our regular inspections to observe the activities taking place here,” he said.
He added that wananchi should use the fair to access affordable products, gain knowledge about technology and explore investment opportunities available through different institutions.
Chalamila also said some exhibitors are offering free health services, while citizens facing land-related challenges have been encouraged to visit the Prime Minister’s Office- TAMISEMI pavilion to receive guidance and services from experts.
He conveyed greetings from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and called on Tanzanians to continue supporting the fair by turning out in large numbers.
Due to the strong public response and high number of exhibitors, Chalamila said there may be a need to consider extending the fair by two or three days. The exhibition is currently scheduled to end on July 13, 2026.
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Jumanne Muliro, said the security situation in the city remains calm and residents should not fear attending the fair.
Muliro said the Police Force has strengthened security in different parts of the city, including inside and around the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, to ensure that visitors participate in the exhibition peacefully.
“We assure all Tanzanians that the security situation in Dar es Salaam is completely calm. Citizens should come to the fairgrounds as others are doing and ignore baseless propaganda,” he said.
