The Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) has moved registration services for company charges to its online platform, allowing businesses and other stakeholders to complete the process digitally without visiting BRELA offices.
The agency said the move is aimed at improving service delivery by making the registration of charges on company assets faster, more convenient and accessible through the BRELA Online Service (BOS) platform.
A company charge is a legal interest created over a company’s assets, usually used as security for loans or other financial arrangements.
Previously, applicants were required to submit applications physically at BRELA offices, a process that could take more time and resources.
Under the new system, companies, financial institutions, lawyers and other users can now apply for registration of charges online through the BOS platform.
To access the service, applicants are required to create an account on the BOS system, select Company Services, proceed to Charges Services, and choose Registration of Charges.
Users can then register new charges by entering the company registration number and completing the required procedures, including submission of Form Number 99.
BRELA said the digital upgrade is part of broader government efforts to strengthen the business environment by expanding access to efficient public services through technology.
Stakeholders who have not yet created BOS accounts have been advised to visit the BRELA online portal and select “Create New Account” to register.
After completing the registration process, users will receive activation instructions through their email before accessing the available services.
The agency encouraged businesses and other users to embrace the online platform, saying it will reduce unnecessary physical visits and improve the speed of accessing company registration services.
