Polisi Tanzania head coach Mbwana Makata has said the team is fully focused and determined to overcome Mbeya Kwanza in their Play-Off matches as they continue their push for promotion to the Tanzania Mainland Premier League next season.
Makata said the priority now is to carefully navigate the two-leg Play-Off tie, stressing that the team is taking each match seriously as they aim to stay in contention for top-flight promotion.
He noted that despite missing out on automatic qualification, the squad remains motivated and ready for the challenge ahead.
He explained that the team’s initial objective was to secure direct promotion to the Premier League, but inconsistent results in the second round of fixtures forced them into the Play-Off stage.
However, he insisted that reaching this phase is still a sign of strong effort and commitment from the players.
Makata admitted that better results in the second round would have secured automatic promotion, but said football now offers them another opportunity to fight for their place through the Play-Off system.
He added that the technical bench has been working on correcting mistakes and preparing the team for high-pressure situations.
Polisi Tanzania will now face Mbeya Kwanza in a decisive two-leg encounter, where the winner will advance to the next stage of the promotion race.
A positive result would bring them closer to either securing promotion or entering the final hurdle of the qualification process, depending on the league structure.
Makata emphasized that while the long-term ambition remains promotion, the team’s immediate focus is solely on Mbeya Kwanza. He said discipline, concentration, and tactical execution will be key factors in deciding the outcome of the tie.
He further noted that Play-Off matches are often unpredictable and demand maximum effort from both players and coaching staff. As a result, he said the team is approaching the fixtures with seriousness and caution.
Polisi Tanzania has now intensified preparations ahead of the crucial matches, with training sessions expected to focus on fitness, strategy, and mental readiness as they aim to keep their promotion hopes alive.
