The Chief Executive Officer of the Weights and Measures Agency, Alban Kihulla, has commended staff for their dedication and professionalism as they marked International Workers' Day 2026, highlighting their role in safeguarding fair trade and consumer trust.
In a message issued to employees, Kihulla described May Day as a significant occasion to recognise the contribution of workers in building a resilient economy, noting that accurate and internationally accepted measurements remain central to economic stability.
He said the agency’s workforce has continued to demonstrate commitment, integrity and high levels of professionalism in executing key responsibilities, including the verification and inspection of measuring instruments and pre-packaged goods.
Kihulla noted that the work carried out by WMA staff contributes directly to strengthening confidence among consumers and ensuring fairness in the marketplace, which in turn supports national development.
He also acknowledged the evolving nature of work driven by technological advancement and sectoral growth, commending employees for embracing continuous learning and improving efficiency to meet emerging demands.
The CEO urged staff to maintain unity, uphold discipline and adhere to public service ethics, stressing that these values are essential in sustaining the agency’s performance and credibility.
