Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto is expected to arrive in Tanzania today, May 4, 2026, for a two-day State Visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing and strategic relations between the two East African neighbours.

During his visit, President Ruto will hold a one-on-one meeting with his host, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, before the two leaders proceed to official bilateral talks between their delegations.

The discussions are expected to focus on key areas of cooperation including trade, investment, infrastructure development, transport facilitation, and other strategic sectors that support economic growth and regional integration within the East African Community.

At the conclusion of the talks, the two Heads of State are also expected to jointly address members of the press, where they will outline the outcomes of their discussions and highlight new commitments agreed upon by both sides.

In a major highlight of the visit, President Ruto and President Samia are expected to witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and bilateral agreements between Tanzania and Kenya.

These agreements are anticipated to further deepen cooperation in priority sectors and remove existing barriers to trade and investment.

The visit will also feature the Tanzania–Kenya Business Forum, which will bring together investors, business leaders, and private sector representatives from both countries.

The forum is expected to strengthen business linkages, promote investment opportunities, and enhance cross-border trade between the two economies.

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, President Ruto is scheduled to address the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dodoma.

His address is expected to emphasize regional unity, economic integration, and the historic ties that continue to bind Tanzania and Kenya.

Later the same day, President Ruto will conclude his official visit and return to Kenya.

The visit reflects the continued commitment by both countries to deepen diplomatic relations, strengthen economic cooperation, and advance shared development goals within the East African region.
