The Tanzania national under-18 and under-20 men’s handball teams are set to begin their campaign today with a crucial opening match against Rwanda in the ongoing East Africa Zone Five Handball Championships being held in Ethiopia.

Both teams are eager to make a strong start in the regional competition, which brings together some of the best youth handball sides in the region.

Speaking to The Respondent, Tanzania head coach Moshi Ally said the squads are fully prepared and in high spirits ahead of their opening fixtures.

He emphasized that the teams have completed their preparations successfully and are in excellent physical condition.

“We thank God for arriving safely yesterday, and today we are starting our matches with both teams. We are well prepared and determined to secure victories and begin the tournament on a positive note,” said Ally.

He further noted that both squads are free from injuries, a situation he described as a major boost in morale ahead of the tough opening encounters against Rwanda.

Coach Ally also called on Tanzanians to continue supporting the teams through prayers and encouragement as they aim to represent the country with pride and achieve positive results on the international stage.

On his part, Tanzania Handball Federation Chairman Michael Chibawala confirmed that a total of 25 players have been selected to form the two national squads competing in the tournament.

Chibawala expressed confidence in the players’ ability to compete strongly, noting that their preparation has been satisfactory and well-structured.

He added that the federation expects both teams to start the competition with victories, which would place them in a strong position to advance further in the tournament.

He also urged Tanzanians to rally behind the young athletes, saying their support will be vital in motivating the players to perform well and bring honour to the country in this regional championship.
