During the celebrations, BoT showcased its commitment to recognizing excellence among its staff. The Best Employee Award of the Bank of Tanzania was presented to Mr. Rweyemamu Barongo, who also received a certificate of recognition from the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA).

The recognition reflected his dedication, professionalism, and consistent performance in fulfilling his responsibilities within the central bank.

BoT stated that the award represents the broader efforts of its employees in ensuring efficiency, discipline, and high standards in the execution of their duties.

The institution emphasized that employee motivation and recognition remain key pillars in strengthening service delivery in the financial sector.

In addition to participating in the national celebrations in Njombe, the Bank of Tanzania also took part in regional Workers’ Day activities across the country.

The bank engaged through its offices in Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Arusha, Mwanza, and Mtwara.

This nationwide participation reflected BoT’s commitment to supporting and celebrating workers in all parts of Tanzania.

The 2026 Workers’ Day celebrations were held under the theme “Decent Work is a Strong Pillar for Sustainable Development in the Implementation of the National Vision 2050.”

The theme underscored the role of fair, safe, and productive employment in achieving long-term national development goals.

Throughout the celebrations, various stakeholders, including government institutions, trade unions, and private sector representatives, called for continued improvements in working conditions, productivity, and skills development to match the evolving economic environment.

BoT’s participation also reinforced its role not only as a financial regulator but also as an institution that values human capital and staff welfare.

The bank highlighted its ongoing efforts to promote professionalism, integrity, and innovation among its employees as part of its institutional development strategy.

The International Workers’ Day celebrations in Njombe provided a platform for reflection on achievements made in improving labour relations while also identifying areas that require further attention to ensure inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
