Singida BS slashes players’ salaries and travel allowances by 40%

Singida Black Stars (Singida BS) management has announced a 40 percent cut in players’ salaries, canceled all win bonuses, and reduced travel allowances by the same margin, effective immediately until the end of the season.

The drastic measures follow a series of poor results, including a 2-0 defeat to TRA United in the NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League match played yesterday at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha. The losses also prompted the dismissal of the club’s coaching staff.

Speaking on the decision, Singida BS Media and Communications Officer, Hussein Massanza, said the coaching team had been warned about their future before the match.

“These actions are aimed at rescuing the team, which has consistently failed to meet its targets, including qualifying for international tournaments and finishing the season strongly,” Massanza said.

He added, “After consecutive losses to teams we believed we could beat, management had set clear conditions: failure against TRA United would trigger strict measures.”

Massanza noted that despite the presence of experienced coaches, the team could not deliver the expected results, prompting swift action by management.

He confirmed that an interim coaching team will oversee the remaining matches until a permanent technical bench is appointed.
