Bukombe Member of Parliament, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) members in Geita Region to play a stronger role in guiding and shaping their elected leaders, especially Members of Parliament, so that they can deliver better services to citizens.

Dr. Biteko made the remarks on April 19, 2026, during the CCM Regional General Meeting held at the party’s new regional offices grounds in Geita Region, which brought together leaders and members from across the region to review party affairs and development progress.

He said being a Member of Parliament is not a special achievement in itself, but a responsibility entrusted by citizens through elections.

He emphasized that leaders are given power by the people and must therefore remain fully accountable to them in their daily duties.

“There is nothing extraordinary about being a Member of Parliament. It is simply the trust given by Tanzanians,” Dr. Biteko said, adding that both strong and weak leadership is influenced by voters and the level of engagement from the community.

He urged CCM members to avoid remaining silent when their leaders do not perform well, stressing that constructive criticism is important in helping MPs improve their leadership and service delivery.

According to him, citizens have a responsibility to continuously guide their leaders so they remain focused on development.

Dr. Biteko also encouraged party members to ensure that their MPs prioritize unity among citizens, warning against actions that divide communities into groups.

He said leaders must focus on bringing people together under a shared vision of development rather than creating divisions.

He noted that national and regional development can only be achieved when citizens are united and working towards common goals.

He added that unity is a key foundation for delivering services such as education, health, infrastructure, and economic growth.

The Bukombe MP further reminded CCM leaders that the party’s strength lies in its close connection with wananchi. He said leaders must continue listening to citizens and responding to their needs in order to strengthen trust and improve development outcomes.

Dr. Biteko’s message was seen as a strong reminder on the importance of accountability, unity, and citizen participation in leadership, particularly in ensuring that elected representatives remain effective and responsive to the needs of the people.

The CCM Regional General Meeting in Geita also focused on strengthening party cohesion and reviewing ongoing development efforts, with leaders reaffirming their commitment to working closely with citizens to advance inclusive growth across the region.
