Tanzania reaffirms water diplomacy commitment

By The Respondents Reporter

Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation in managing shared water resources at a conference in Bishoftu, Ethiopia.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Water, Mr. Heri Chisute emphasized that water is not just a resource but a vital link for peace, unity, and development.

Tanzania highlighted three key priorities: equity and inclusion, sustainable water management, and strengthened diplomacy.

It also pointed to cooperation in the Nile River Basin and Lake Victoria as examples of how shared water can promote unity instead of conflict.

The country called on African nations to turn water diplomacy into practical action for sustainable development and regional cooperation.
