Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, represented President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the burial of the late Munde Tambwe, a former Member of Parliament for Special Seats and a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
The burial took place in Tabora Region on February 4, 2026.
Speaking during the funeral ceremony, Dr. Nchimbi conveyed President Samia’s message of condolences to the family, relatives, CCM members and the people of Tabora, describing the death of Munde Tambwe as a major loss to the nation and the ruling party.
He said the late leader made an exceptional contribution to national development and to strengthening CCM through her dedication and selfless service.
The Vice President said Munde Tambwe consistently put the interests of the country and the party first, noting that she was widely respected for her humility, strong leadership qualities and commitment to fostering unity and good relations within society.
He further announced that President Samia had contributed TZS 30 million towards the completion of a mosque whose construction had been initiated by the late Munde Tambwe.
He said the contribution was aimed at honoring her vision and ensuring the project is completed for the benefit of the community.
Dr. Nchimbi thanked the family of the late Munde Tambwe and residents of Tabora for the cooperation and support they accorded her during her lifetime, which enabled her to effectively serve at regional, national and party levels.
He called on mourners to continue praying for the late Munde Tambwe so that she may rest in peace, and urged religious leaders to keep praying for national leaders, institutions and political parties to promote unity and collective efforts in building the nation.
The burial was attended by senior government officials, Members of Parliament, religious leaders, CCM leaders and members of the public from various parts of the country.
The late Munde Tambwe was laid to rest at Sheikh Yahya Cemetery in the Mbirani area of Tabora Region on February 4, 2026.
