Airtel Tanzania has awarded a brand-new Mazda CX-5 to Mr. Shakuu Joshua, a 31-year-old taxi driver from Kimara-Temboni, after he emerged as the grand prize winner in the ongoing “Mwaka Umenyooka na My Airtel Money App” campaign.

Mr. Joshua qualified after purchasing electricity tokens worth TZS 1,000 through the My Airtel Money App. Upon completing the transaction, he participated in the campaign’s digital spin feature and was later confirmed as the top prize winner following Airtel’s official verification process.

The vehicle was formally handed over at his family home at Ubungo-Msewe in Dar es Salaam in the presence of family members and community representatives.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Joshua said the notification initially came as a surprise. “Winning this Mazda CX-5 was such a shock.

This experience has truly changed my life. I am incredibly grateful to Airtel for this opportunity. My wife just had a new baby so this car will not only support my family’s needs but also open new possibilities for my work and future.

It is a major milestone, and I feel motivated to achieve even more knowing that small actions like using Airtel Money, can lead to big rewards,” said Mr. Shakuu Joshua.

His mother, Ms. Magreth Mtei, expressed gratitude and excitement following the handover.

“I thank God! I am very happy and grateful. When I was told that my child had won through Airtel, I honestly could not believe it at first. When I finally saw the car myself, I was in complete shock. I truly appreciate Airtel for giving our children and families such a wonderful opportunity,” she said.

According to Airtel Tanzania, the campaign encourages customers to transact through the My Airtel Money App, including sending and receiving money, paying bills, purchasing airtime and buying utility tokens.

Eligible transactions automatically enter customers into campaign draws and digital prize mechanisms.

Airtel Money Director Andrew Lugamba noted that the campaign continues to record strong participation nationwide.

“To date, the campaign has awarded more than seven Bajaj three-wheelers, over 30 television sets, eight motorcycles, and one Mazda CX-5. Two additional Mazda CX-5 vehicles are scheduled to be awarded before the campaign concludes. Our focus is to reward customer loyalty while driving digital financial inclusion,” he said.

Airtel Tanzania reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to convenient and secure digital financial services through customer-centered campaigns and technology-driven platforms.
