The Tanzania Handball Association (TAHA) has appointed Moshi Ally Kassim as Head Coach and Hemed Juma as Assistant Coach of the national youth handball team, which is set to compete in the Zone Five Championships this April in Ethiopia.
TAHA Deputy Secretary-General Yehoshafati Kalulu said the appointments are part of the association’s strategy to ensure the national youth team receives professional and comprehensive preparation for the regional tournament.
Kalulu explained that the coaches were selected following recommendations from TAHA’s Technical Commission, which carefully assessed the candidates’ experience, skills, and track records before submitting their proposals to the Executive Committee.
The newly appointed coaches are expected to begin work immediately, scouting, selecting, and preparing players who will represent Tanzania in the competition.
“The coaches’ duties start officially from the announcement of their appointments, marking the beginning of the full preparation process for the national youth team ahead of the Zone Five Championships,” Kalulu said.
He congratulated Kassim and Juma on their appointments, expressing confidence that their leadership will strengthen the team and advance the development of handball in Tanzania.
“On behalf of TAHA, I congratulate the coaches on being entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing and building the future of Tanzanian handball. We expect to see significant improvements in both preparations and performance,” Kalulu added.
The Zone Five Championships will feature teams from across East and Central Africa, and Tanzania aims to make a strong impression, using its youth squad to enhance the country’s reputation in African handball.
