Songwe Region is stepping up efforts to attract investment, following a seminar organized by the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) today, February 20, 2026, at the Regional Commissioner’s Office Hall.
The seminar, designed to engage local investors, drew more than 120 businesspeople and entrepreneurs from across the region, ranging from small-scale operators to established enterprises. Participants actively explored the investment incentives and opportunities promoted by TISEZA.
The event was graced by the Regional Commissioner of Songwe, Jabir Makame, who thanked TISEZA for bringing investment education closer to the public and the region’s private sector.
Addressing attendees, RC Makame said, “Songwe has abundant resources and investment opportunities in agriculture, industry, and trade. This seminar comes at the right time to encourage our entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the fiscal and non-fiscal incentives offered by TISEZA, supporting growth in both the regional and national economy.”
In a significant move to streamline investor support, the Regional Commissioner launched an Investors’ Desk in Songwe, handing over operational tools to a designated investment officer.
The desk is expected to enhance access to services for investors and stimulate economic growth in the region, reflecting the government’s commitment to bringing services closer to citizens.
Daudi Riganda, TISEZA’s Investment Promotion Manager, highlighted the investment opportunities in the region, the procedures for project registration, and the benefits of investing in special economic zones.
He encouraged participants to act promptly to capitalize on these opportunities, which promise returns for both investors and the nation.
The seminar also provided a platform for constructive dialogue between the government and private sector actors, reinforcing Tanzania’s strategy to promote domestic investment and strengthen the role of Tanzanian investors in driving national economic development.
