Simba SC eyes six remaining points in CAF Champions League group stage

Simba SC has reaffirmed its determination to fight for the remaining six points in the CAF Champions League group stage, despite facing an uphill task to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

The Tanzanian giants are currently bottom of Group D with just one point, a position that has left little margin for error as the group stage enters its decisive phase.

Speaking at Julius Nyerere International Airport before the team’s departure, Simba’s Information and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, said the club’s focus is firmly on winning the two remaining matches, starting with the away fixture against Angola’s Petro Atlético scheduled for February.

He said the match is critical for the club’s future in the competition, stressing that Simba will approach it with full commitment despite the challenging qualification scenario.

“We are not ready to give up. Even though the calculations for reaching the quarter-finals are difficult, we do not want to finish the Champions League with few points, which could affect the team’s confidence,” Ahmed said.

“The remaining two matches are an opportunity to fight for the club’s pride and restore players’ morale.”he added

He added that the technical bench and players are preparing seriously for the Petro Atlético encounter and called on Simba fans and members to continue standing with the team during this difficult period.

Simba will face Petro Atlético before wrapping up their group stage campaign with a final match that will determine their overall fate in this season’s CAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, the team has already arrived in Luanda, Angola, where they will play their fifth group-stage match away from home in the continental competition.
